Helpful Hints
Guide for radio
users
- Turn the radio
on.
- Check that you
are on the correct channel. (Ensure the channel selected is
the correct one allocated to your
duties).
- Make sure the
radio is turned off when attaching an
accessory.
- Talk clearly
into the microphone (if using an accessory talk into the
accessory microphone)
- Press the talk
button and keep it pressed whilst talking. Releash
immediately after you finish your message so that you can
hear the respondents reply.
Using your
radio
- Always end your
message with "OVER"
- Receiver should
respond with "COPY" to indicate that your message has been
received, if there is no reply message.
- Foul language is
not permitted over the airwaves.
Trouble
shooting
- Is the radio
turned on?
- Are you on the
correct channel?
- Is the volume at
an audabile level?
- Are the
accessories connected properly?
- Disconnect any
accesories if you are having problems - the accessory may be
faulty.
- Is the battery
connected properly / or flat? (A chirp, chirp sound
indicates a flat battery).
Battery
care
- Charge your new
battery for 16 hours before using it.
- Do not use your
charger as a radio stand - if a battery is still connected
to the radio for charging then the radio must be turned
off.
- Leave the
battery in the charger for 1 to 2 hours after the light goes
green.
- Only charge a
battery when needed. Do not recharge charged batteries as
this will reduce their life span.
- If your battery
has not been used for at least 2 months allow a 16 hour
charge.
