  • Turn the radio on.
  • Check that you are on the correct channel. (Ensure the channel selected is the correct one allocated to your duties).
  • Make sure the radio is turned off when attaching an accessory.
  • Talk clearly into the microphone (if using an accessory talk into the accessory microphone)
  • Press the talk button and keep it pressed whilst talking. Releash immediately after you finish your message so that you can hear the respondents reply.

Using your radio

  • Always end your message with "OVER"
  • Receiver should respond with "COPY" to indicate that your message has been received, if there is no reply message.
  • Foul language is not permitted over the airwaves.

Trouble shooting

  • Is the radio turned on?
  • Are you on the correct channel?
  • Is the volume at an audabile level?
  • Are the accessories connected properly?
  • Disconnect any accesories if you are having problems - the accessory may be faulty.
  • Is the battery connected properly / or flat? (A chirp, chirp sound indicates a flat battery).

Battery care

  • Charge your new battery for 16 hours before using it.
  • Do not use your charger as a radio stand - if a battery is still connected to the radio for charging then the radio must be turned off.
  • Leave the battery in the charger for 1 to 2 hours after the light goes green.
  • Only charge a battery when needed. Do not recharge charged batteries as this will reduce their life span.
  • If your battery has not been used for at least 2 months allow a 16 hour charge.
